Home for the Holidays Supports Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Louisiana
The Home for the Holidays Raffle, organized by the Acadian Home Builders Association, supports the Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Louisiana (RMHCSLA) expansion at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital. Through the raffle, we aim to raise essential funds necessary to plan, design, and build a future home that ensures more Louisiana families can stay close to their children during long-term hospital stays.
Since the campaign’s inception in 2005, AHBA, through Home for the Holidays, has proudly donated over $3 million to local non-profits in our community.
What is a Ronald McDonald House? A Ronald McDonald House serves as a home away from home for families with a child in a medical crisis. The home offers FREE overnight lodging, meals, and access to other support programs to keep families close to their hospitalized children. Your raffle support will help families of critically ill children stay closer to home and always close to their children.
Understanding the Need: Growing from a Suite to a Free-standing Home for Families
The Ronald McDonald Family Room and Suites at Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital was opened in December 2022. Since then, the family wing has operated at capacity annually. Additionally, 52% of Ronald McDonald House New Orleans guests travel from Southwest and Central Louisiana. It is a well-established fact that pediatric patients fare better when surrounded by love and family support. The ultimate goal of Home for the Holidays is to pave the way for a permanent, free-standing Ronald McDonald House right here in Lafayette, ensuring that children are close to the love and support they need to heal.
