Foster the Love

Foster the Love Louisiana exists to be a support and resource center for foster families in Louisiana. Their efforts include caring for children in the state foster system, supporting families that look after these children, and educating the community on the needs of the foster care system.

Their initiatives consist of the following programs: Community Closet and First Night. Their Community Closet offers a closet donation to collect new and gently used clothing, shoes, toys, bedding, furniture, and equipment to distribute to foster families to meet the needs of foster children in their care. Furthermore, the First Night program provides newly placed foster children with reusable, overnight “First Night Bags” that are filled with clothing, hygiene supplies, and a special welcome gift. The families will also be provided with “First Night Meals” or restaurant gift cards to help with the transition.

Foster the Love even offers parenting education and training through classes, books, and videos.
